Gourmand Woods, Scent Wardrobes & More Lead Fall 2026 Fragrances

DoTerra’s expert perfumer Eva DeMarchi chats with Happi on product development.

Today’s shoppers aren’t just buying a scent — they’re buying a feeling, an identity and an experience, according to Eva DeMarchi, Happi Top 50 Company doTerra’s perfumer on the research and development team.

DeMarchi has more than 15 years of experience in fragrance creation and innovation. She specializes in natural fragrance development, GC-MS fragrance reconstruction and product commercialization across wellness, personal care, home care and fine fragrance. Prior to joining doTerra, she worked as a perfumer at Robertet and has developed many fragrances for global markets.

DeMarchi chatted with Happi about fragrance development trends for Fall 2026 and how essential oils are becoming increasingly elevated to meet consumer trends.

Happi: What are home fragrance shoppers looking for in their products and why?

DeMarchi: There’s a strong desire for aromas that feel real, natural and emotionally resonant; 2026 fragrances support comfort, focus and grounding rather than simply smelling pleasant. Economic uncertainty is also fueling demand for affordable luxury and sensory escape.

Happi: What about the layering scent trend?

DeMarchi: Layering is trending too, with consumers building a personal “wardrobe” of scents rather than committing to a single signature. doTerra lends itself naturally to this. Yule Log, for instance, pairs beautifully with Vanilla for a richer experience or Labdanum for something earthier.

Happi: What are the top home fragrance scents for Fall 2026 and how is doTerra meeting this demand?

DeMarchi: The days of fresh linen and frosted cupcake aromas are behind us. Fall 2026 is defined by “gourmand woods” and milky tea accords — think cashmere, pistachio and toasted grains.

Hyper-realistic fruits are also having a moment, moving away from generic sweetness toward tart red fruits, juicy plum and fresh-squeezed citrus. doTerra is squarely in step with both trends.

Yule Log captures the gourmand woods aesthetic beautifully, blending skin-musk Ambrette Seed CO₂, creamy Benzoin CO₂ and a cashmere-edged Coconut CO₂ over a base of sandalwood, Siam wood and incense.

Vineyard Escape delivers on the fruit-forward side, opening with sparkling blackcurrant and buchu leaf before settling into a woody-balsamic finish of copaiba, Peru balsam and Nootka.

Happi: What are the next big home scents for 2027 and why?

DeMarchi: Expect nature-inspired aromas to deepen and expand — garden botanicals, orchard fruits, sun-kissed skin notes and milky woods are all gaining momentum. Solar notes in particular have strong staying power; consumers are drawn to the romantic warmth of sun-kissed skin accords. DoTerra’s Endless Summer reflects this well, with coconut-wrapped osmanthus, pink grapefruit and a grounding sandalwood and labdanum dry-down.

Fresh herbs, green basil and tomato leaf are also emerging as major players — our La Dolce Vita diffuser blend (currently available in Europe) leads this direction, pairing lemon and bergamot with jasmine, basil, marjoram and a touch of pink pepper.

Happi: What can we expect next from doTerra?

DeMarchi: We’re doubling down on the functional fragrance experience powered by whole essential oils in a way we can confidently say has never been done before.

Yule Log is a popular scent from doTerra.
